Welcome to the Douglas County, GA Probate Court's online ordering system. Requests will be processed Monday-Friday: 8:00am - 5:00pm.  The Court processes orders within 5 business days, excluding weekends and holidays, once all information is available. The Probate Office will also be open for all business from 9:00am - 3:00pm on the following Saturdays in 2024: August 3rd and December 7th.

 

Please note that we can only access records for those born or deceased in Georgia.   If you were born in another state you must contact the county or state department of your birth.

 

REQUESTING A BIRTH, DEATH, OR MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE

 

Birth Certificates 

A birth certificate is a confidential document, therefore, only the following persons can obtain the birth certificate: 

      • The individual
      • The biological or adoptive parents of the individual
      • The biological or adoptive grandparents of the individual
      • The guardian or temporary guardian of the individual
      • A legal spouse
      • An adult child of the individual
      • An adult sibling of the individual
      • If a guardian, attorney, state/federal government official, you will be required to show certified proof of same.

If you were born anywhere in the State of Georgia, you may request a certified copy of your birth certificate from the Douglas County Probate Court.

Death Certificates 

A death certificate is a confidential document, therefore, only the following persons can obtain a death certificate that shows the social security number and cause of death of the deceased:

      • Immediate family - the spouse, the biological or adoptive parents
      • The biological or adoptive grandparents
      • The legal guardian
      • Adult siblings
      • Adult children
      • Or the personal representative of the individual's estate

If you have a tangible interest in a matter pertaining to the decedent, you can request a certified copy of the death certificate; however, the social security number and cause of death will be redacted.

Marriage Certificates 

Marriage Certificates can be obtained for individuals who received their marriage license in Douglas County.  Certified copies of Marriage Certificates are only available in the County of Issuance; not the county of the wedding ceremony.

  • A Non-Refundable Search Fee will be applied to all orders ($25 for birth and death certificates; $20 for marriage certificates) 
  • An additional Non-Refundable Service and Credit Card Processing Fee will be applied to all online orders
  • An additional Non-Refundable Vital Verify Fee ($0.75) will be applied to all "Delivery" orders

You will be asked to select the method of receiving the certificates during the application. If you select "pick-up", please note that only the requestor of the online application will be allowed to pick up the vital record. You will be notified by us once we have processed your application and the certificates are out for mail or ready for pick-up.
